Perth Motorplex is set to come alive with the sounds of revving engines and squealing tyres as competitors race in the Shannon’s Targa Rallysprint.
Starting this Thursday, the sprint challenges drivers through a 3.25km course weaving through the Motorplex’s facilities in Kwinana.
Driver and co-drivers’ acceleration, braking, handling and teamwork will be tested as they race against the clock.
Each team will perform four runs throughout the night to submit their fastest time.
‘The Shannon’s Targa Rallysprint series is designed to cater for drivers with a wide range of skill and experience from novice through to those preparing for the WS’s premier tarmac event, Targa West,” event coordinator Ross Tapper said.
As well as an overall time sheet, cars are classified into specific classes based on engine power, giving old classics and modern exotic the chance to compete with similar vehicles.
The event is free for spectators and the season will run to March next year.
The 2017/18 Series dates are Nov 2, Dec 7, Jan 11, 2018, Feb 15 and Mar 8.
