A host of international competitors joined local devotees for the annual Perth Ramble around the City of Perth last weekend, with more than $65,000 raised for charity.
Thousands of people participated in what has been called ‘Perth’s Best Funday’, with the winning team receiving flights and accommodation for Bangkok.
The event ran for four hours on Sunday, and saw all kinds of wacky costumes appearing around Perth’s CBD and surrounds as teams of people solved clues and completed physical tasks.
Amador Vargas of Los Angeles, who came over to visit friends in Perth and join in the event, believes The Ramble showed him a different side of the city.
“There are so many interesting historical facts which are spread all over the city that you might not necessarily see unless you’re looking for them.
“It’s not my first time visiting Perth, but [taking part in the event] gave me more insight into the places that I had already visited previously,” he said.
Aura Becerra from Colombia says she has never experienced anything like it before.
“I had no idea what it would be like and was convinced by some friends to [be in their team] but even though I was a bit hesitant at first I’m glad that I came along,” she said.
The Ramble was just as eye-opening and informative for locals as well as foreigners.
Matthew Tuson of Edgewater believes he learned a lot even as a Perth local, and that the event was a great opportunity to get to know the city better.
“I discovered parts of the city I never knew even existed,” said Mr Tuson.
“Also, when else can you walk around the CBD in fancy dress and claim to have a good reason for it?”
