Padbury News and Post is celebrating today after selling its first Division one Powerball winner in more than 11 years.
Staff were very busy after having many hopeful winners come forward to check if they have the winning ticket which is worth more than $16 million.
“It’s been very busy, not many major prizes at the moment, they are ranging from the 20 dollar to 40 dollars” said Padbury News and Post worker Catinca Hozoc.
Thursday’s 50 million Powerball jackpot has been split three ways with the other two ticket holders from Victoria.
Each winner shares a massive $16.66 million division one prize, but the identity of the western Australian winner is not yet known.
“We are delighted that the division one winner is a local Western Australian.
“We have now had over 70 division one winners in Western Australia this year, and we are just waiting now for the lucky winner to come forward,” said Pina Compagnone, Lotterywest spokesperson.
This $16.66 million dollar win is now the highest in the state this year, topping a $15 million win in April.
“Another $2.9 million in prizes have also been delivered to over 130,000 other WA winners” said Ms Compagnone.
“I was so excited when I heard where the winning ticket was sold I rushed straight down to see if it was me, but sadly it wasn’t,” said Aaron Courtney of Padbury.
“The winner has a year to come forward, it goes right back into Lotterywest” said Catinca Hozoc.
