In this first of a series of stories about the Guild elections, Timothy Leong interviews two first-year candidates.
Two first-year Murdoch University students have raised their hand for council positions in this month’s Guild elections.
Kai Donaldson, representing ‘United’, intends to make student voices heard and bring more energy to campus by encouraging further development in planning for additional events.
“Being only a first year student, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to run for the guild council,” Mr Donaldson said.

Reuben Williams, representing ‘Momentum for Murdoch’, says he will also be running as a candidate for the upcoming Guild elections.
“We aim to highlight matters regarding sustainability, club and campus culture, and access to education in our campaign message,” Mr Williams said.
He believes the issues are important to all students no matter what they are studying.

Mr Donaldson was elected this week as the secretary for the Murdoch Labor Club unopposed at their annual general meeting.
“I am very happy the club has given me a great vote of confidence to serve as secretary for Murdoch Labor,” he said.

Voting for the guild elections open on the October 23 and will run for four days.
Voting closes at midnight on October 26.
